Here's one more for ya, because Halloween is comin soon! I have another coming, before the big day, but this is one to tide ya over. It's called Memento Mori, and I hope you all know what it means. It's really just another MIAD experiment. No plot or reasoning at all... Enjoy!
Check it. Here's another creepy video for some Halloween love. Not much to it, just a dark video with odd music. Really just more about mood than anything. Watch it with the lights off for best effect.
Ok, I'm sorry. It's been longer than ever since an update. Damn, those months just fly off the calendar, you know? I've been taking some time to figure out my life, and I plan on getting back to work shortly. Oh well...
In the meantime, since Halloween is coming up (in like 2 months...), here's an eerie little project I made back in the day. It's called "Ominous" and is based off of a famous phone call made to the radio show "Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell" back in 1997. The man who called in later revealed himself as a prankster, or so the story goes. I still think it's fun to listen to, so I made a video paralleling modern tragedies, just so we can all get uncomfortable. I'm just saying, don't take it seriously.
Oh, and I plan to release a few more "spooky" videos as we get closer to Halloween. Enjoy!
But you should. See how I've been updating more? Pretty hot huh? Anyway, tonight I humbly present to you yet another old-school project from my days at MIAD. Titled "Ghosts on Paper" it is another of my more experimental works. It is a culmination of a series of life drawings using nude models. The drawings were then animated and manipulated in Aftereffects. The music is "Rabbit in Your Headlights" by Unkle, but way slowed down. Don't sue me, Unkle.
And now, enjoy it!
Peace.
Tonight is a very special night. I have a special treat for all those David Borman fans out there... All 1.5 of you... I have been holding out on ya. Tonight I'm posting what I consider to be my funniest video ever. It's not an animation. It's a video I made back at MIAD with my dog, Gypsy. I was attempting to make a spoof of those commercials where people are all like "Here's some animals or sick kids or whatever... Won't you help?" I was going to have graphics and cut aways to cute animals and everything, to look like a real commercial. The "cause" was the fictional disease SCD (Severe Cuteness Disorder). Anyway, on the night of filming it became readily apparent that my dog was not going to cooperate, and about half way through I just decided to make the video a testament to my failure. It ended up being way funnier than I had even hoped, and I didn't really have to do any post production or make any graphics after all.
Ok, so without further ado, I give you my failed SCD video.
So, now that I have finished my gift for Sarah, I'm getting back to a project I've been working on for a while now. I know I've spoken of it before, but here's a recap: It all started last year at MIAD's 24 hour animation festival. We had 24 hours to make an animation. Anyway, I didn't finish but I liked what I had so I decided to finish it and since I no longer have time restraints make it good. It's about what I would do if I were the lone survivor of the Apocalypse. Anyway, I wanted to show you guys some backgrounds I've made. One of which is in fact the banner I use for this page but I have tweaked it a bit. I'm going for a monochromatic/slightly green tinted thing here, as I suppose you can see with your eyes. My point is the originals were WAY too saturated. Pretty, but I realized they contrasted greatly with the character, who is simple and black and white. So I pulled the color and detail back a notch. Several notches really. Ok, I'll shut up, heres 2 of my backgrounds.
See? Simple. And happy. Who wouldn't be? Everyone in the world is dead!
Ok, I'll update again soon. For now, BACK TO WORK!!!! **Woosh**
So, now it's been like 3 months plus since I posted. I am a bad person. However,I will hopefully redeem myself tonight by posting new content, and solemnly vowing to update much more frequently. I know nobody reads this but I'm going to update regularly now and hype it more in other places so hopefully people will care. Anyway, the reason for my absence was simply I didn't have a reliable connection to the internet. That has been remedied and you can now expect at least regular status updates if not media. Tonight me pretties, you will get media though. I just finished a new animation, just today. Not the one I told you about, that's on temporary hold. Well, it was. I guess it's now back in production. See, I made my best friend Sarah an animation for her Christmas/birthday present. It's basically an animated card. I like how it turned out. Hope you do too but if not, too bad it's not really for you. But because it's more personal I won't be sending it to any festivals so I will post it here. As in tonight. In fact, here it comes.
And for no extra fee, here's an extra treat. It's another work in progress, but who knows if I'll ever complete it? So I'm offering it up here. It's a rough of a teeny tiny short I call "Moopsy." Or was it "Moobles"? I dunno, I call it whatever cute name that pops into my head when I talk about it. It's just about a cute little bear thingy overreacting to spilled ice cream and ripping his flesh off. Whatever. Enjoy.
Well, there's that. I'll be posting more stuff soon, I promise. Enjoy!
Okay, now it's been WAY too long. I'm in Flagstaff now, and it's just been a crazy month, so forgive me for no posting. I'll try to get some more vids up soon, but as you can imagine I have other priorities. I'm not working on anything per say right now because I'm too busy getting my shit together out here. In all honesty I probably won't be back to animating until January or so, but I'll still try and post some retro David work in the meantime. I mean, after all, all I've posted so far is old stuff. I don't even have new stuff. Animation takes a long time, shuttup! But yeah, my current project is on haitus but it's the first thing I'm gonna work on when I get set up again. Besides surviving, I've been researching. Oh the research I've been doing... It will all pay off in the long run. I dunno, that's all I got right now. Peace!
Ok, I know it's been like a month since I updated, so now the two people who actually maybe visited this blog have lost all interest. That's not going to stop me though. I'm here to keep the fire burning. First, a few tidbits of news, then on to a new video.
Top of the list is be sure to check out homecommentaries.com. If you're a fan of the TV show Home Movies, you'll enjoy this. It's me, Don Ford and David Schuttenhelm doing fan commentaries for the show. It's all explained on the site, but basically you just play your DVD and sync it with our audio tracks. I think it's pretty funny and informative.
Next up, I will try to update more frequently, but this next month or two is going to be pretty hectic. See, I'm moving to Flagstaff, AZ in about a month and as you can imagine, I'll be very busy. I'm currently converting literally every file I have left to share with you so when I do update I can do so quicker. Just be patient with me, please. Also, keep spreading the word to anyone you know who might care about my silly art fun.
Ok, that about covers that. On to my latest upload, Quantum Light.
Okay, today I'm gonna be really good to you. Today I'm posting 3 new videos! Hold your applause, please. These are 3 short bits, none is really a piece unto itself. More test stuff and a preview. Let's get started shall we?
Next up, Jester thingy!
Last but not least...
A trailer for my self made documentary about myself! I still haven't ripped the actual documentary so I can't show you that yet, but here's a trailer I made for it. Timmy totally steals the show. Honestly, I made this back in sophomore year and it seems a little silly to me now, but what the hell, I made it I'll show it. Warning: Mature Language in case you care.
So there ya have it. BTW, all like 3 of you who read this blog, TELL YO FRIENDS! Spread the word. I need to be famous someday dammit. Anyway, I'll post more soon, peace!
